Role Overview

Zapier's Integration team powers hundreds of millions of automated workflows daily, maintaining the Top 250 integrations that drive customer success and company revenue. As Engineering Manager, Integration based in India, you'll lead a new team dedicated to reliability, quality, and innovation across these mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

As Engineering Manager, you'll wear multiple hats—leader, coach, strategist, and technical owner. Your day-to-day includes:

1. Team Building & Development: Hire and grow a team of backend engineers specializing in integration reliability. Conduct 1:1s, code reviews, and career coaching while managing performance effectively.
2. Technical Ownership: Make product and technical decisions for your team's portfolio. Know when to act decisively vs. seek alignment on strategic initiatives.
3. Reliability Leadership: Champion observability, prevent regressions, and establish quality standards across integrations. Lead post-mortems and continuous improvement.
4. Customer-Driven Prioritization: Analyze CX data and metrics to anticipate risks, adopt new API features, and address issues proactively.
5. Cross-Functional Partnership: Drive alignment with Integration Quality, Enterprise, Developer Platform, and foundational teams. Build relationships that deliver Zone-level outcomes.
6. Strategic Planning: Plan team growth, identify hiring needs, and shape integration strategy at the department level.
7. Process Innovation: Create asynchronous processes that keep distributed teams in sync across time zones.

This role reports to Integration leadership and offers significant influence over Zapier's core product reliability.

Qualifications

We're looking for a seasoned engineering leader who combines technical depth with people management excellence:

• 5+ years managing backend engineering teams, preferably in integration/API platforms
• Experience with Zapier Developer Platform or similar no-code automation ecosystems
• Proven success building teams in India or distributed environments
• Deep expertise in reliability engineering, observability, and security for customer-facing systems
• Strong hiring track record with ability to attract senior backend talent
• Comfort leading asynchronously in remote-first cultures
• Backend development experience (Node.js, Python, Go, or similar)
• Experience owning technical roadmaps and cross-functional alignment
• Metrics-driven mindset with experience translating customer data to priorities

Bonus: Experience with high-scale systems (millions of daily workflows), API change management, or enterprise integrations.

Salary & Benefits

Competitive Compensation: Total compensation range of $120,000-$180,000 USD annually (India-adjusted), including base salary, equity, and performance bonuses. Exact offer based on experience and location.
